It should of been obvious when you saw the character shadows in that GIF. A branch of the UE3 engine.

Doesn't everyone stare at shadows when playing games or watching 3D rendered video?

No. Even if i saw the shadows I wouldn't have known it was UE3.

I do. But I also stare at shadows in real life. I'm totally fascinated by light and shadow for some reason.

I love lighting and shadows as well. I love seeing how surfaces refract and reflect.

So what the shit is this thing about some zombie-like guy literally eating someone's face off, getting shot by the cops, and then continuing to eat the guy's face?
I've heard this from like four different sources today. what. the. fuck?

Haha, it's awesome to hear that I'm not the only one here that does that.

I heard they were both drunk homeless people. One ate most of the face of the other dude(who is still alive), and that the cops had to shoot crazy one to stop him.

I have mixed feelings about Tether. Sure, it was a pretty cool little flick and since I haven't spent any time to research the budget or production time frames involved, I'm gonna assume these guys were strapped for cash and did the best they could with what they had. With that said, it is really a stellar job.

I do have reservations about the acting and the judicious use of death and killing. The acting felt formulaic to me. That is, there were some pretty good chances to get deeper with the story with just some really subtle hints here and there. For example, when the injured brother started talking about what he had heard of a previous tether's investigation party, he could have slowly put a painfully hopeful smirk on his face after mentioning that they never returned. Something like that could have given him the character flaw of being slightly vindictive despite his established passive nature (at least, more passive than his aggressive brother). The smile could have been in blood-soaked teeth or something to look creepy, and the guy with the guns could have become more unsettled by the situation than to simply step away gazing worriedly to the horizon. Maybe I'm just looking at things too deeply, but I think little things like that could give extra depth to these otherwise sorta flat characters.

I also think the last four deaths were kind of cheeseball. Its like the writers said, "I'm bored of writing this script so lets just kill everybody except the guy who we're gonna make the main character." I think the idea here is a kind of Predator-style if-you-have-a-gun-I-will-shoot-you thing, and that's why the injured brother doesn't get blasted away. I also think the girl in white is lame.

But I'm just a big hater.

I also have a fascination with lighting and shadows. Last night I was walking down the street and saw this really cool shadow being cast by a spotlight on the side of my neighbor's house. I just stared at it for a minute thinking "wow that looks really cool," and my mom was really confused.

I liked the acting, but I see what you mean there. Also, the thing about the deaths at the end is that it was just supposed to be a pilot for a possible web series, so they were probably not planned to partake in the rest of the story. These guys have a lot of talent, they're the ones that made videos like Art of the Instakill, Modern Warfare: Frozen Crossing, PRISIM, Minecraft: The Last Minecart, Dubstep Guns, Live Action TF2 Sentry Sabatoge, ect. etc.

(Sorry, they're my favorite YouTube video artists.)

Edit:

Here's the first concept video they did a year ago. (Wow it's been a while, I remember when this was uploaded, didn't feel like that long.)

1. Where'd those Dishonored gifs come from?

2. Is it bad that when I look at a nice light effect in RL, I think 'that's a low lightmap, and it's rather pretty'?

3. Joe, you are supah anal. Not to sound like an asshole mind. I felt the script was ok at best, but the guy who'd been shot did a good job with what he had to work with. He went from seemingly passive to a lot more vindictive quite subtly, and I liked that.

Wiping out the characters was something I didn't expect they'd do, so it was a surprise. It reinforced just how powerful the Tether-protector-thing is. Didn't like the fact the shot-in-shoulder guy lived though. I'd prefer he hid under the coat or something.

Because that girl in white really was lame.

4. Moving on,
