It looks like EA is in competition with Activision to create the worst FPS experience of all time. The poor old Battlefield genre has been resurrected and destroyed all in one short 9-month time span due to all of the changes they have been making to the game and all that they have planned for the future.

Just look at this shit right here:

It's funny cause they only do this stuff if it makes or has the potential to make money.
It's the "industry" that's "destroying" it'self.

But we can't blame a nameless mass of customers, so we choose the biggest target closest to the source whether they are truly the problem or not.

That's like saying you're refusing to work for Dow Chemical because of Bhopal. Ok, less obscure; like refusing to work for Unilever because of some questionable ethics over in the Axe/Lynx bodyspray sector.

Also, money and experience can trump ethics imo. I'd have taken the job personally, but that's me. That's not to say I condone their actions, but equally it will be as much the player's fault for creating their own demise here. They are not forced to buy into it. If it is a success, you can only blame those who purchased it.

Games industry really is losing it's way. Lawsuits coming out the wazoo as well.

BUT HEY THERE, SHINING LIGHT

The problem is that Battlefield 3 and CoD make their money "illegaly" to a large part. It is basically kids not even legally allowed to buy the games destroying the gaming culture as we know it - at least I assume it, I can't prove it.

I think in most countries both games are for 18 year olds only. Most people you meet online and even in real life (like talking about it in bus) who talk about CoD and BF3 are way younger.

I would bet at least 50% of the sales are basically illegal, and those kids - and I am only 10 years older, but in computer game terms, thats a long time - don't know better.

I even heard and read comments like: It is better to pay for DLC, because modder's can't even do professional stuff.

I don't blame Ubisoft, EA or any company. (Well, ok, I do, but not only)

It is the gamers who buy games even though they are bereft of their rights and need now to pay for stuff that would have been free or done by modders 10 years ago.

I didn't buy some games because of some stuff already, and I guess I won't buy the new DLC for BF3. I enjoyed the game quite a bit, but the patch policy was awful and I got bored of the kids pretty soon.

Interesting how you can feel ancient in your mid twenties :x

I can feel the pain of people who started with text-based adventures.

Afaik it's not defined by law only 18+ year olds can legally play it, buying it, maybe. Playing it, nope.

Yeah, in the US; kids(<16) "can" by M rated games. But those who sold it to them can get fired for it by their employer.

It's not law here, it's just an agreement between ESRB and retailers. I hope it stays this way.

Anyone tried 'Sculptris' to model?

Was wondering how easy it was to use and whether it worked with UDK/Source well
