most of the budget goes toward social entitlements programs that have become cancers to the nation...things like social security and (most recently) the individual mandate for health insurance.

Your government giving tax breaks to things that really don't need them (oil, cars, farmers, power & water corps. etc) really adds up fast. Raise taxes back up 5% for the idiots making more money in a year then I will in my entire life, fix the loop holes and get rid of the "incentives" and you're golden for about... oh, ever.

"Government issued health care" This is exactly the problem you Americans actually think this! In our system (Canada) the only the Government has to do with health care is PAY FOR IT. Everything else is the same doctors, same hospitals etc as you guys.

And yes, I do think that. They can handle not buying a third sports car or a summer home in Palm Springs, I think getting my broken ankle fixed and not being in debt for a year is a little more important.
