Sounds interesting. I'll Google around for some inspiration later.

4. Unusual theme lol.

Good luck all.

3. It may or may not end on the 26th. Depends on participation and how everyone is doing. I might extend it to the 31st or so. Time zone is PST.

4. Sugg mah digg.

You fucking idiot janga, did you never have a computer when you were young? Epic fail man. Epic fail.

Did you ever have a Sega Genesis? Or an NES? Or a Gameboy?

Maybe he did, but never had side-scrolling games. Maybe his mom or dad decided he shouldn't play 2D side scrolling games because they didn't want him to get in the habit of looking at the world in a two dimensional way. They wanted his outlook on life to be more vast. Maybe he could only play top-down, or maybe even isometric games. You know?

No I do not know!

Anyway if I join this I'm going to be replicating an environment from one of the Sonic 1,2,3, S&K games. Not sure which one yet...

Does 2d fighter environment remakes count as side scroller?

If so, I'm in..

If not, well, I guess I could come up with something else.... )=

EDIT:

ALSO, are videos acceptable? :smt023

That's not a side scroller! It only scrolls like 2 inches to either side! I guess Srred should have the final say though.

I guess my question was more is this "2d planar" games, since I've always used the word side scroller to describe those types of games, regardless if they were platformers, shooters (metal slug) or fighting games (more or less)

Can it be HD versions of older games or does it have to be original only?

I would think we can remake an environment from an old game. It uses the same rules as the normal map battles and people redo other people's works all the time.

We know it doesn't have to be. He was asking if it could be a remake.
