Not yet. Mapping on Source is still dominating, so I think we should wait a little to see if more and more of us starts using UDK.

I'd say no simply because the same scene in both engines will easily look better in Unreal. Which one is more popular on this particular forum shouldn't matter.

If there were a separate battle just for Unreal that would be another matter entirely and I'd say hell yes.

UDK Scenes will almost always look better than source maps, for the sake of balance, I vote to keep the 2 apart.

Over at WoLD they allow both Source and UDK to be entered into their Design Challenges and they are very comparable.

I'd say there should UDK map battles, but they should be separate.

source-maps, you are ugly :(

Also, in reality it wouldn't be a big deal to allow UDK entries into the our regular old map battles. With either engine the quality of your work is dependent on the quality of your art assets and lighting. People want their source entries to be competitive with UDK entries, they'll have to create their own models and textures--Just like the people who use UDK.

Both Source and UDK have their advantages and disadvantages, so I think that it would be a fair battle if both were aloud.

When you stop caring about the bragging rights of winning, you'll realise that having UDK allowed in the map battles will be a very positive thing as it will encourage more people to learn to use it.

Although Ive only entered in one map battle, i would have to say no. To me, its like trying to compare apples and oranges, it just don't make since, and being that UDK is a far superior tool compared to SDK, its gonna make the UDK content look that much better, and give an unfair advantage. Now, if you could use UDK to build content for Source based games, I think it would be a different story, but what do I know, I've only been mapping about 3 years, and my work leaves alot to be desired...LOL
