Fedora's Mapping Livestream

Postby Fedora on Wed Mar 02, 2011 10:01 pm

FedorakMap!

After a massive hiatus from level design, I've decided to commit to doing a daily livestream of my mapping. It's not pro work (far from it!) but I talk about my basic decision making with each step of the process. My goal is to create clean, minimalist, beautiful, and replayable multiplayer levels. This means constant revision and introspection.

Right now I'm working on tearing down and rethinking the layout of a small HL2:DM map. By talking about it as I go, I'm learning lots about gameplay design theory, and what I want out of the level I'm creating.

The stream will go live on weeknights at 10:30PM (UTC-8, PST), and last for 1-2 hours. Check out the recorded videos if you can't make the live sessions. They are long, since I'm actually theorizing, building, testing, and revising for every step of the way, but if you like it, let me know!

(I do it cause I love it, not for money or fame, but if you wanna help me with either, I'm not gonna complain)
I livestream and do hardcore play-by-play analysis of my mapping.
