It's hard to say anything about the portal community, They're a varied and dedicated group, and that I can respect that. I'm not sure that I'd lump all the people who abuse the portal memes into the "community" group. As far as I can tell, they're pretty far removed from any real portal communities. Unless you consider gamefaqs a portal community.

counter strike players are super competitive, very organized and like to talk shit. Three qualities that I can respect. So they're fine in my book.

Half Life community? They're fine.

TF2 community? They're fine as well. Hat trading is an overstated problem. In reality, if you join a server and play for 4 hours, you probably won't see one mention of a hat. Either casually or as a trade offer. Not to mention that it's really not a problem at all, when I hear people complaining about people talking about hats, all I see is "OH MY GOD, ARE THESE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT SHIT I DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT!?!?!?!?! FUCK THEM!"

Day of Defeat community? they're HILLARIOUS. I don't know how many of you still play Day of Defeat, but there are a TON of roleplaying servers, where people ask their team leader for permission to play a class, and they're speak in Army Lingo. Before rounds start they do have captains pick teams, elementary school style. Also there are a lot of HEAVILY moderated servers with tons of rules. It's pretty bad, but not the worst game on the list.

And then there's the L4D community... They're the most rage educing unfun people anyone could ever play with. In Greifers try to ruin every game, people decide to try to go solo, and they'll run out way in front of the team, then get pounced and immediately ragequit. People ragequit for any and all reasons.

Did they lose a round? Ragequit.
Did they win a round? Ragequit.
Is it their turn to play survivor? Ragequit

It's the absolute worst when you're having a really close game, like super close, and they lose 1 round, they'll often all leave, or at least, a large portion of the team.

I'm going to have to defend L4D here. I play nearly every night, 1 or 2 of versus with a full 8 players and have been doing so since about August. In the times I've played with randoms I've only ever had someone grief and that's because he had given up. Not a defense for him but still.

TF2. I hat trade. Every few rounds I will post in chat my advertisement of requests and sells. I can see how when you've got someone continuously spamming it can be annoying but don't hold that against me. If you don't care at all for what I'm doing, I don't give a shit. Deal with it. I'm not hurting anyone here. On the other hand for TF2, there are so many shitty memes and some are just frankly annoying and not funny in the slightest.

My most hated community is... drumroll.... PORTAL!!!!

I love Portal. For the weeks afterwards 'the cake is a lie' was a bit of fun. Then it got taken way out of hand to a point where you couldn't get the fuck away from it. There was some cool stuff that was still done in between but by and large when I went to the UK versions of comi-con it was just fucking annoying. People who've quite clearly got no 'real' interest in gaming shouting it in my fucking ears, written on their fucking placards. Sickened me to death.

On Portal 2, there are so many memes that no single one has so far been used so much it annoys me. In the days after release I went to a mates party and the most used one was 'Now Cave, what was in that phonebook of a contract I just signed? Am I in danger? Let me answer that question with another question, who wants to make $60!?' and I still enjoy it. By this point Cake was already driving me nuts.

I would say the cs 1.6 comunity. They has to be the most conservative people I have ever met, though this is only from a e-sport perspective (witch is the only thing keeping it up).
If there would be an update witch tweaked the price of the ak-47 abit or anything, valve will get shit throwed at them instantly...

I want and need a better counter-strike, the source version sucks^^
