Possible ufo/missile?

30 or so minutes ago I was outside watching the Local jets fly over on their bombing runs at the bombing range. Then suddenly a red light appeared" Looked to be much higher than the jets" wasn't flashing, had no blinking lights, was simply 1 big red light, appeared to be slow at first, but then about 5 seconds in was going 4x's as fast as the jets flying over head and simply vanished.... I'm very curious as could this be a missile or a ufo? Im not really skeptic about it.. its probably just something simple like a missile, but it was going the wrong way. And it wasn't a passenger plane, because it was way too fast.

Though idk what you guys can say. Have you ever seen anything that you didn't know what it was?

Oh, and it wasn't a meteorite because i've seen many in my life time, and it had no trail once o ever.

Hmm, that's interesting. One time at night I saw a floating red light that was moving slowly above the mountain, and I assumed it was a helicopter until it started moving abnormally fast for a helicopter... that's all though (plus it was completely silent outside).

could it have been a military flare? sometimes when the fall straight down it looks like they're moving really fast. It's hard to tell because you can't really get a sense of parallax on a distant small dot against a completely black background.

Think about the direction is appeared to be traveling in. could it possibly have been moving perpendicular to the ground?

It very well could be a military flare. Though it had no flicker or smoke trail. I've seen the A-10 wart hogs deploy flares, Im not sure if F-15/16's do though.

F15's definately do. and they're often emit a quite a bit of smoke, and do flicker a bit

Edit: oops, I re-read your post and you said that they didn't flicker or leave a smoke trail, so nevermind. I have no idea what you saw

IMHO, I think that most UFOs and strange lights seen in the sky are either phosphenes or other illusionary phenomenon.

Also, jangalomph, you're incredibly lucky to get to watch airplane practice bombing runs...
I'm jealous.

UFOs doesn't exist. Max physics velocity is light speed. If there's some intelligent life form on our galaxy, how much do you think they would take to find us? If so, why would they be messing around to not be seen?

Well it was unidentified, flying, an an "object" so they do exist. But spike has a point. If we found a new planet with life. We'd be all over it and land on it.
