I too live in the UK and its a terrible situation at the moment.
IMO this has been on the cards for a few years now, and whilst i don't agree with the looting and vandalism there is underlying issues which have been ignored by the new government as well as the previous.
I was in a 50k job two years ago, was then made unemployed due to the " global economy " and was on the doll for 7 months, the only work i could find was forklift truck agency work paying the minimum wage, it was the only work available.
I then got a full time job in a High School working in the I.T dept paying just 16k a year. YES 16k a year.
I am lucky enough to be able to pay my rent and just support myself on these wages, but employees tell me they have had no pay increase for 3 years.
Working in a School environment has opened my eyes to the youth of today and what little prospects they have when they leave school regardless of qualifications. I for one wouldn't want to be 18 today that's for sure.
Getting full time work is a total joke, getting on the property ladder is an absolute Joke,
groceries , utility, council tax and other common bills have skyrocketed and lets not start on fuel costs.
On a final note it was nice of
David Cameron and
Boris Johnson to come back off their holidays so quick, its just a shame that most people in the UK cant afford a tent let alone a holiday, and we still have one of the highest child poverty levels in Europe.
we may all moan about these "Hoodies" we see on the news but they are nothing more than a
product of our society that we have created.
