I'll watch the trailer later tonight. The picture alone looks really cool though. I also like mechs But does this look like a "Source 2" kinda improvement to you guys? Looks like a modified Source engine to me!

As for the tools. I assume they(and Valve) use a newer toolset. Probably one with third-party licenses that keep them from distributing them to the community. Though I don't think it's miles ahead of the Hammer that we use.

It's definitely Source and not a new engine. When you watch the vid in HD fullscreen, you can see the brushwork here and there, the smoke effects and most importantly, the lighting indoors is poop baked lightmaps. It looks good for Source..but that feels like a phrase I'm really tired of hearing. I ain't blown away.

Deferred on Alien Swarm can be tricked out to do more impressive stuff, in terms of raw visuals, Titanfall looks good because of it's models, animations, gameplay and the fact that a AAA studio are working on it.

Yeah basically what hollow said. It's a shame, I was somewhat expecting more, but nonethless it's the best looking source game so far. They've gotten rid of a ton of valve content. Source has always been a very capable engine, and I think people have somewhat lost sight of that. It just took someone with the time and resources to rip out valves shitty old ass code, and probably fix most of what's been left over of the hl2 beta code base.

The building on the right, foreground, really screams: SOURCE.

No ambient occlusion etc. Looks like Source But not bad.
