I'm going for the whole Hot - Cold thing. Or rather Warm - Cool.

The outside, being dark, cold and snowy, while the inside is nice and warm with the fire going, light coming out of the windows etc.

It's far from done, but it's progress.

I will try and get the dod_colmar skybox over, as it's much more darker and will give the impression of a more cold feeling while outside of the cabin.

I cant wait to see the finished lighting in this, for sure.

Haha cheers. It's definitely proving harder than I first thought it would - the lighting, that is.

Looking good so far m8..i personally would remove the light beams though, they look a bit too intense for that little house. Also you might want to have a different wood texture on the porch bit, repeats a bit with the house

looks nice hell, although that volumetric lighting looks a little over the top.

Hmm yeah it is a tad too much for a little cabin like that haha, cheers for the comments.

I'm definitely glad I changed the lighting and skybox, the outside looks a lot colder imo.

Edit: Still have to got a lot more to add and fix.. but It's progressing I think.

Now I've got to fix the damn snow.. you can see on the bottom right it's SUPER SHINY REFLECTIVE styles. I have no idea how to fix that.

That's because it isn't an entity, but a material property.

I doubt if you should use the mask though, setting
"$envmap" "env_cubemap"
"$envmaptint" "[.05 .05 .05]"
might be enough.

EDIT: and don't forget to build cubemaps

Hey i'm new to these forums (and mapping) and am happy to have finally found a decent forum for source mapping. I was wondering with the map battles, do you have to submit a fully playable map that will be judged on gameplay also or is it more of an art competiton, where the best looking screenshots win.

I'm looking forward to the final outcome of this battle, keep up the good work.
