Map Battle 23 - Final Images & Vote

Okay everyone, here are the results of Map Battle 23 - Juxtaposition! Have a gander at what our lovely contestants have made, for your viewing pleasure, and then at the thread poll, for your voting pleasure! Remember, the entries are to be judged primarily on their aesthetic quality - basically, whether they really make you go wow. Since this was a bit more of a freeform theme, we've included the juxtaposition the artists were going for. (Doesn't if feel nice having someone call you an artist? )


I had a few issues getting all these results together - lots of early WIPS that weren't clearly marked or that didn't make it to Final images, some unclear 'titles' and a nasty tussle or two with imageshack (come on guys, CubeUpload or Photobucket for the win!). So. There's a very real chance I've missed something - if so, let me know ASAP and I'll update.
For example:
-Spas12, your 3rd final image just would not load from imageshack, so I've picked its counterpart from Map Pimpage thread If it's been updated, lemme know!
-Khaeotixs, I picked what I thought were the best 3 from your 5. I'll happily change that for you if you desire.


A few words on the future - keep the suggestions coming, no matter how crazy . I'll try and have some slightly different presentation & advance-warning methods in place for you next time, so keep your eyes peeled.

Thanks guys, I don't really have a specific inspiration for this piece, I just wanted to create something that looks nice and fits the map battle but also invoke some degree of emotion, not just something to be viewed as a map.

And I had to go for Cremator, but it was a close call between him and PaulH.

Is good to be back in a map battle again! Nice entries all round guys, hopefully the next battle i enter i can spend more time on an entry and provide more than one picture..my vote went to cremator as it's a nice looking and different piece of work..well done!

Some quality entries yet again, but I've had to vote for Cremator. That is a truly original piece you're created there, a great contrast of emotion in that shot.

I voted for cremator.

I really have to give credit to PaulH, Spas, and Hallraz0r, too. Excellent, excellent entries. Hellraz0r's use of juxtaposition was great, and I absolutely loved the quality of Spas' and Paul's entries, but I just feel like the level of juxtaposition just wasn't there, and in a Juxtaposition battle, that's probably the number one deciding factor, at least for me. If it weren't for Juxtaposition I probably would've chosen PaulH with Spas as a close runner up, but as I stated, the theme just wasn't quite there.

Excellent work though, and I mean it, all the entries were phenomenal.

Yep, it's just like photoshoping. Good work all. Can't say this was hard to pick Cremators is the only one with any feeling too it. 904's comes second but the rest are just hl2 maps. :/ GG
