I spent a good 2 hours last night looking for a decent location in Australia to enter this competition for...

I know there are things out there but i only know the places i've been to and all i can find is the same block of units after the same block of units after the same block.... blah blah

Japan might be my next best bet lol..

Australia has some beautiful landscapes and geometry however source is more structured around closed and dense areas (European cities) and not open and baron areas where there is one house inview and the rest is fields and dirt :P

I was going to say i'll do my own house but that's a bit boring and also simply not possible in source because there are no models or textures that fit this surrounding :/

Japan yeah, i think i'll have a look there :P

I'm afraid i won't find the time for that... :(

BUT, what would be really great is sewing up all entries of this battle... so you get one big crazy city! (ok with some loading area's maybe, but what the heck, would be one huge awesome city!)

I've started work on this, its in Florence and is pretty much the next street over from the place 904 posted.
I'm really liking the theme for this map battle though, partly because its given me an excuse to spend hours roaming around on google street view, but mainly because I've been meaning to have a go at mapping a real area for a while so this is just about perfect.

I love that spot. They had it as part of a racetrack in Project Gotham Racing 3. I think it's sad that I recognize it but whatever.

The Doctor wrote:Why does Google Maps limit the Street View locations, but Google Earth has millions of the little things all over the world. Even the dumpy little town that I live in, with 2000 people has Street View.

Since the town I was going to use doesn't actually have Street View using Google Maps, I'm going to have to use the next best thing. Atlanta.

Many greatttttt locations you could do in Atlanta. I hadn't been downtown to Phillips/the Dome in a long while since they finished the new World of Coke building, but that would be a pretty friggin sweet area to map.
