It's been a while since we did a template battle, so it's about time to do one again. For this template I've tried to strike a balance between something that's versatile enough to be used in many ways, but also remains recognisable in the end product. In the process I've contemplated a few different ones, but finally settled on this:

What to do
The idea is to take this template and create a map around it. You can expand on it in all directions, make it part of a bigger structure (or not), as long as the template remains recognisable and be somewhat of a center-piece in your final entry. It has be intergrated into your entry. This also means that there's not much room for altering the shape of the template, it has to remain recognisable. More on that below.

Theme
You have complete freedom in chosing a theme or style for your entry.

Some technicalities
It's currently dev-textured and has some surfaces with a lightmap scale of 8 (as visible in the screenshot above), obviously it is entirely up to you to change the texturing and lighting and thus the lightmapscale on the surfaces.
I've used the gray and orange measuregeneric textures. The brushes covered in gray should not be altered or removed, the ones in orange allow for a bit of flexibility (f.i. to connect to other geometry).

I also did not func_detail anything, I leave that up to you as my choices might not fit your mapping style or direction you take with the template. Beware of this when compiling, vvis can take longer than expected with these round shapes.

I made the template in EP2, with an EP2 skybox, I've set up a player start and a light_env. These are just there so you can do a quick compile and check it out, they are not part of the template and can be removed or altered to your liking. Only the brushes are part of the template.

Deadline
Due to me going on a holiday (and I assume some of you as well), the deadline will be a month from now on Tuesday September 1st. The battle will be closed at the end of that day, at mignight GMT (or a bit later in case I'm already asleep ;) ). For the closing times around the world, check here.

Template specific rules
What's not allowed:
  • resizing/scaling of the template
  • altering or removing gray textured brushes
What's allowed:
  • rotating the template on all axis
  • duplicating it
  • altering the orange textured brushes

General Rules
  • Three screenshots max
  • You should use an official Valve Source engine game
  • Custom content is more than welcome

Edit: i think i can make this into a strip club but too bad i don't know how to make custom textures or moddel :|

Got two ideas. One's easier, but the other's better. Or maybe scrap them both and do an ICE NON-VOLCANO .

It's quite simple really. I want to be a professional level designer. I want this to be my job.
