Well, gave up on the modelling today and finally started the actual map.

This is the mandatory 'outside of the lair' bit.

Any thoughts?

THAT... IS... BEAUTIFUL!

The only thing I notice is that the trees in the distance are card trees and so they look flat...

Other than that, GREAT JOB.

And yeah it's a card, I'm cheap.

Eh, 3DS max has beaten me.... for now....
I will most likely not be able to finish my submission before this tuesday.

Leave me in just in the miraculous case I might actually finish it.

I'm afraid I don't know if I will be able to enter this battle. I can't manage to get the models to cast proper shadows and when I disable shadows it looks really bad. Maybe i'll enter the next one. :(

I'm out. I hate my level, I want it dead, and I won't have enough time to fix it.

Maybe I'll be a little more focused for the next battle.

Yeah, I won't make it either. Might as well post what I have:

Image

The idea was some fancy glass-thingy on the edge of a tall cliff, with a fantastic forest vista in the background. Not only did it look so much better in my head, but I have no idea how I'm going to make the background either. There are no fitting tree models that can be used in the 3D skybox, and making it in scale is obviously not an option. So no map battle for me this time...

I might make it in, gonna do some work tomorrow.

I've worked on it already but haven't posted any WIP shots, I guess that's not very good. I'll probbly put up some later in the day.

I dont put much wip up either, I like to build things up over time.

I wanted to do too much modeling for this challenge, Combine models just dont fit the bill...
