For testing the Hidden on your own: password-protect your server, then once you're in-game (waiting for another player, which wont happen cos you've set a password), go to console and type "bot add".

A bot is added, but they're incredibly stupid and don't do a thing at the mo, so you can happily run around to have a look.

It wont let me add a bot when I join!

It still says "waiting for player" when I password protect.

Any ideas?

add spawns, and enable cheats (sv_cheats 1) then bot_add

Postby Timothy Sottek on Thu Oct 20, 2005 11:10 pm

As the week comes to an end, I offer up the first screenshots of my map, hdn_complex.

Briefing:

A secret high-security Infinitum Corporation research complex has been infiltrated by the recent escapee "Subject 617." Initial reports suggest that many lab and complex workers have been killed, as well as a first response security and hazmat team.

IRIS members must infiltrate the complex and eliminate all threats so that Infinitum may recover operations, and prevent hazardous materials from escaping the compound.

Status:
(Hour 10 of work)
Brush work: 20%
Details: 15%
Lighting: 20%
Testing: 5%
Overall: 17%

Comments:
- Lighting will be brightened in some areas. Some brushes are allowing light to pass into adjacent rooms, creating a dimming effect.

Enjoy!

I'll be posting more soon.

Nice map Timothy, but I'm guessing you converted another map you've already made. -- Or you have no life, lol

I like what I've seen, but the lighting is poor and textures are getting a little repetitive. And like wiggle said, the hidden is hard to see at night so you could maybe make it day? That way it will balance between the dark inside and light outside -- gameplay is just as important in this mapping contest.

And what's the urgent urgency mate? You've got two months to do this, not two weeks, lol

Yeah, I know that the lighting is a little dim. As I said before, its cause the light is leaking over the tops of walls. I'll fix it :)

But, as a little trick, I'm making it so the hidden can turn the lights OFF in some areas by destroying power conduits. Setting traps should be more than just waiting in a corner!

Also, I do have a life. I just do brush work very quickly. :)

4th from below needs to have some lists stamped to the wall to seperate the wall from the floor. I mean, *need*. Make it func_illusionary and it'll only be for looks. Make it maybe 1x2 units (Two height that is) and some woody texture, might wanna use a custom one.

looking hawt Tango, but lose the ragdolls or make them non-solid like a fresh corpse would be, otherwise players will get stuck in the or "trip" over them which can really disrupt the flow of a good map.
