I'm not saying there should never be repeats, but I think there are too many good new ones to warrant one at this time.

How about "Crime and Punishment"?

Okay then, when Barrakid was active...

And Crime and Punishment would pretty much be a bunch of jails or something, there's not much else you could do without custom models and vehicles like police cars and such.

Yeah, you're probably right. You could do a lot with custom stuff (and characters) but most people (myself included) are mainly stuck with mapping.

I'm starting to get ideas for Dock and Surrealism, my vote goes for those.

If 904 put so much thought into wet theme, I think that should be the choice. I'd love to see wet maps.

I've been thinking of dock ideas. It'd be a good battle, lots of reflections and setting possibilities.

I like the "Dock" idea. I, of course, would make a dock in outer space, though. Just to throw everybody off. Um. Did I say that out loud?

You stole my idea joe. :smt011

As for 1984, I've already suggested Room 101.

Ok I have a question... I have never taken part in the Map Battles but I want to. So my question is one I think I know the answer to but want to be sure.

Are these maps completed maps, or are they just a small area of a map which happens to fit the theme of what is chosen?

You make a scene to fit the theme.

WYSIWYG
What you see is what you get

Nothing more but scenes, you could make it playable but that's your choice.

Yes, it's screenshots only. No need to be playable, no need to optimize, just create a pretty environment and take a picture (or 3) of it. More clearly: it actually may not be an existing (published) map, reason for that is that we want (more or less) equal chances for all the entrants.

Some of the maps in these battles have been developed into real playable maps though. So these battles can act as a starting point for something bigger.

EDIT: the 1984/room 101 or related themes are definitely on my radar, but not for the upcoming battle.
