I wish I was good enough (or fast enough) to map anything within a set time list, my quickest map took about a four days even though it was incredibly simple, all it was; was just one room copied 25 times with Func_illusionary's blocking the exit, with the corners blocked off, :( alas it isn't too good and bots see straight through the illusionaries making playing nearly impossible.

I don't know if it's too late to suggest this, or if it's even appropriate, but since that time is comming up, maybe we could do a "never forget" theme, people just submit an entry showingwhat they remeber what happened that day on 9/11. Maybe it could be an extra one, like for the banner of the month kind of thing. I don't know, but for this contest i was thinking of doing the wtc PATH station and it came to me. Well just an idea anyways, it did change the world we live in.

Meh, wouldnt work. Maybe in the USA 9/11 was a big deal, it wasnt for the rest of the world. Specific nation-bound disasters like that are not a good idea, because its so local.

Plus my last map battle entry portrayed that a bit... So I'd be fucked!

zipfanator-huh, now that i look at it, i see what you mean.
On another note, it wouldn't have to be just what happened 9/11. i understand with all due respect, it didn't touch everyone. But maybe it could be something like State of Emergency. You try to depict something significant in your lifetime/or region that means something to you. I honestly think it would be an interesting thing to do.
-edit-
but the jist of it would be something major that happened in real life
