Quick/Simple Questions Box

Postby Sublight on Wed Apr 16, 2008 12:10 am

While learning to map, I often find that i have simple and quick questions that I need answering that I feel don't necessitate an entire topic. So what i was thinking, was that it would be good to have a chat box or similar to just ask small quick questions?

While it's a good idea, I'd suggest going into the Interlopers Steam Chat. There is usually plenty of people there that *hopefuly* will answer your question and not spam PENIS COCK over and over again *glares at no one in particular*.
I design (v4.1 released 23/2) and Tweet.

Yeah, I know I'd be willing to answer questions for people who join. That's the simplest way, really.

If they are simple questions, 99% of the time they will have been asked before, so try the search feature first. If nothing turns up, as the others have said, try the chat room.

That's probably the best idea, since it would only be filled with simple questions anyone with experiance wouldn't be expecting much thought to help another person out.

However, how do you tell what is a "simple question" and what is not? What is simple to one person, may be the most difficult thing in the world to another.

IMO, a simple question is a question like "what's the hotkey for compiling?" or "is there a good guide on making a bomb defuse map?". Questions that's very easy to answer, and doesn't deserve their own thread. Some people might be uncomfortable with starting a whole new thread on a forum they don't know well, and not even asking about something difficult (I wasn't one of them *cough*).
