Wouldn't it make sense to establish something like map database on the main page?
Something like on SnarkPit (http://www.snarkpit.net/index.php?s=maps).

What are your opinions?

In all honesty, if you want a map you'll be able to find it or at least the relevant thread/MODdb page.

While it seems a good idea, it's pretty much a guarenteed to end up filled with shit, or there be 100 odd maps from users who'll add a facepunch quality map and then bugger off. What if it's the other way around, and nobody posts anything? What if we only want the very best of the best?

The map spotlights go back a considerable way and are easily accessable. Booyah.

What if the maps had to be approved first? To ensure top-quality?

I like how the "Research and Development" Title was spread over everybody's name that one day...now the problem is condensed down to one guy's forest-plane-crash-themed map.
