Changing the Modelling and Art+Design Forums

Sub-forum descriptions:
Modelling:
Post your new models, request help and generally discuss the now required skill.

Art+Design:
Textures, designs or just general advice, all in here.

Now, this kinda came up when I got chastised for posting wip textures in the modelling forum, but it generally seems like a good idea. Why are these 2 forums separate? Models and textures should go together. In fact, hardly anything gets posted in the A+D forum other than requests for VMT help, and there are a lot of HL2 compiling threads in the modelling forum.

My proposition is this:

Merge the Modelling/Art + Design forums into some kind of "custom content" forum, where only models and textures (wip or finished) are posted for pimping or help with the actual model/textures.

Create a new forum for dealing with issues / asking for help importing models and textures (maybe other things also?) into the Source engine.

This allows us to keep the art, and the engine-specific issues separate. It also allows easier support for other game engines in future (if that is ever decided to happen).

Speaking of which, we need more admins and maybe more mods. Look to frequent users.

I agree with this,

and would also be interested in volunteering to become a mod seeing as I'm a daily frequenter of both the forum and the chat room la la la (in response to Chop suggestion)

Aye!

And talking of mods, we don't have an IRC channel mod. Or at least, one I've ever seen on there.

irc channel is a waste of time because of the existence of the steam group chat. I agree with everything was said above Noodles post though!

I disagree. Textures are not only for models. They are also created for use on brushes in maps. Art could refer to concept art of practically anything , background images for mods, etc. Therefore there is enough difference between models and textures to justify two different sub-forums. There is also no need for a seperate forum asking for help with importing models or textures into the Source engine as that area seems to be already covered by the Level-Design Help section.

This was the logic behind the setup in the first place.

I'll look at re-writing the forum descriptions and possibly adding sub-forums if necessary. However I don't wish to complicate the boards.

I didn't even know we had an IRC channel...
