I guess it would be nice, since I like the layout of these forums :D, but there aren't really that many coders around, I only know amckern and myself ...

0.0125 of a coder here :)

Also, coding problems tend to be verry specific, it's unlikely that a single problem would really yield a thread that others can contribute to or learn from.

TBH I think the VERC coding forum and other sites (thewavelength for example) do a good enough job, 'loper's doesnt need to try a forum that it really doeasn't have enough of a grounding in. We should let the other sites do their l33t coding thing while we get on and do our l33t mapping thing :-D

edit: furthermore, ppl aren't exactly gonna be wanting/able to show off some cool bit of code they wrote lol

if there was a coding section, every post would be a specific question like "how do i do slomo in my mod" or "how do i make my own fgd". tons of questions with very, very few answers. one of the rules at wavelength is dont just strait up pass out code.

I'm not ruling it out. I think it could be good for the forum.

But seriously we haven't got enough people to operate it atm.

I Know small parts of VB, Jest and Z@C know some. I think they only fully qualified coder is amckern.

Art forum FTW! I can show my drawings :D

The reasons we havent hardly got any coders is because Interlopers started off as a mapping website. So there only going to be mappers. If we made it Coding aswell im sure we could reel them in...

We have an art and design forum.

But no it wouldn't work. If you have no coders here in the first place. You have no content for coders.

WHy would a programmer want to come to a site where there is no content for them? This has a knock on effect that people who want to learn to program have no one/nothing to learn from.

So for the final word on the subject.

We are not having a coding forum any time soon.

What if we find a bunch of coders? and bring them to this site? Would that allow an opening or would it just waist my time and everyone elses?

IF there were a way to get into coding without having to shell out for MS Visual Studio then I'd be interested. But as there isn't a way that I know of, I can't see a coding forum here having anything other than lots of requests and questions with no answers...

Yeah code forum would be almost completely fruitless. Hardly anybody with the knowledge and coding questions always have VERY specific requirements. Better looking elsewhere for that kind of stuff.

Anybody use jolt? They have forums just for the sake of a subject, and some of them have like 3 threads and at least a month since anybody posted in them. Just makes it seem untidy. We dont want that to happen here.
