How to do steaming water/custom bubble sprites in HL2 mod

Postby FPSMoto on Thu Jul 17, 2014 9:18 am

Hi,

I'm attempting to make an acid pool and wanted to make it look cooler. Using the env_bubbles brush entity, what directory is the sprite located (I did a Windows search in my Steam folder and could not find any sprite files) and can I edit it or create a custom bubble? Also, I know how to use the env_steam entity, but to my knowledge there is no brush based steam entity. Can I use another brush entity to create a similar effect or am I limited to having to create a bunch of env_steam entities to fill the perimeter of the pool?

The look I'm going for is like a mix between the acid pool from the Mortal Kombat series and the bog of eternal stench from the movie Labrynth. :D :smt102

Use a custom particle made by yourself instead? That is what env_bubbles more or less does.

The mod I map for is using Source SDK 2006, so I don't believe that is possible.

For the low hanging fog, the func_dustcloud entity should give you the effect you're looking for.
