Here's a cool video, once again featuring the decay of Detroit USA.

I'm putting this link here...not because it has a wealth of images...but because it has a story and a few important links that can probably inspire some urban-decay mindset in your own mapping.

This is a CNN article about a man who has been living in the Japanese exclusion zone for a whole year - with very little help from the Japanese government. He is basically chronicling the decay of the town he is living in, which sits within 10 miles of the ruins of the Fukushima reactor complex, and is a one-man protest and petition for federal aid. Interesting video embedded in the website, and finding a trove of excellent photos is a simple Goggle search away. Look for things like "abandoned livestock" and "2011 tsunami - before and after" for some good inspiration.

"He's been tested for radiation contamination, and results show his body is "completely contaminated," he says. But he'll stay, he pledges, as the sole citizen of Tomioka to keep tabs on the government. "We have to decontaminate this area or else this town will die. I will stay to make sure it's done. I want to die in my hometown."

Gotta give him credit for being persistent, at least.

I'm not sure how interested you guys are in watching war footage but here's a Youtube video to inspire some CS:S maps maybe...it shows the current conflict (read: massacre) in Syria. Check out how war-torn the city streets are, the constant billows of smoke, and take note of the sounds of war...the blaring speakers, the wind, the distant explosions.

This actually reminds me of City 17 in a way, if only you could block out the obvious arabic shouting and arabic architecture. In fact, can you imagine the Combine trying to take over an arabic city that is TEEMING with islamic insurgents? The rebels in City 17 are not far away from being just like those freedom fighters.

It would be good for TF2, every time I drive by it it reminds me of it. It's actually a clay factory (shit ton of pipes and other stuff)
