I for one enjoy reading the discussion of the scene and their decision to implement it, and how they did.

If you dont like the conversation, dont open the thread

stoopdapoop wrote:lols, nobody expected the game to be realistic, devs even said it'd be like a hollywood action movie.

Nobody who doesn't like over the top action should be surprised that they don't enjoy this game...

My gripe with the series is all the realistic elements that I want in a FPS! The DOF, the head movement during reloads, the great ironsights, the realistic graphics...

I dont think being cinematic and realistic are self exclusive. I really want to see a game team like insurgency make a game with the resources like IW.
Untill then im a sad HL2 modder :(

Yeah, I'd much prefer this thread to continue than the vast majority of threads in this sub-forum.

If you don't want your kids seeing it, don't buy it for them.

If you don't want to see it, skip it.

Simple as that. No one is forcing it down your throat. The game is rated M for mature, assuming you're mature enough to handle it. It's called MODERN WARFARE. Modern as in today, warfare as in war. It's realistic and it fits properly.

This dude is right, its like dont go rob a bank if you dont want to go to jail. Personal choices people come on now

An interesting side note from the German front on the topic at hand:
I bought the game today (44 Euros at Saturn, it costs 60 Euros on Steam!) after discussing it with a mate. He has it, bought in Germany too (obviously). He told me about the scene BUT the developers decided - fearing the funny German youth protection system - to make the scene less uh ... discussworthy. You CAN shoot civilians, but if you do, the mission will end. I guess with a screen like "Mission Failed" or something.
In fact, stupid again, it is 18+ rated anyway, BUT i wanted to tell you :-)

Funny.. but at the same time, aren't you supposed to be some double-agent for the FBI, CIA etc? So it kinda makes sense that you would fail the mission if you were directly responsible for the death of a civilian.

I was thinking the same.

I came to the conclusion that murdering all those civilians in Russia was justified because the wankers kept popping up in my sights during that Brazil level!

Ad is right. This has a good base and is prompting solid discussion. If you don't like it Armageddon, leave it be.

After all, you're not an undercover CIA agent here to choose whether or not to shoot threads down.

I know that was a shit joke

Did anyone else get the "some missions may be disturbing would you like to skip them?" message when you first opened the game?

If not, I guess it must be an Australian thing.

I was kind of curious as to whether that message had been there all along, or was introduced after the media response to the level pre-release?

When can I get a game where I shoot innocent citizens of the West?

I want to spill some capitalist blood.

Nah, I want to be an undercover agent who is authorized to eliminate civilians. In other words, it's all for the greater good.

Playing as some fucktard who went postal doesn't satisfy me.
