I swear, people need to STFU about CoDMWII. :|

But honestly, this is just controversy made to get higher ratings. Don't take it seriously.

Yeah, you go question their motives.

As if shooting civilians would raise ratings anyway...

Simple as that. No one is forcing it down your throat. The game is rated M for mature, assuming you're mature enough to handle it. It's called MODERN WARFARE. Modern as in today, warfare as in war. It's realistic and it fits properly.

agreed. Not to mention, you have to wade thru like 4 menu's at the beginning, each asking you if you're prepared to see disturbing imagery. (or something)

It's just a game! It's not real! So shut up about it... I agree with Shredd.

It may be just a game, but psychological research shows that, once immersed, a player's experience in a videogame is as good as real.

They made a really stupid move in doing this, it would have been better as a simple cutscene. But give it a few days and we'll never hear about this again, I bet.

That's BS. "Psychological research" has shown the opposite as well, not to mention millions of gamers NOT going rampage every chance they get. I'm not getting into this ridiculous debate again, but as long as you're stable no fucking way. I'm sick of this being propagated in this way, distorting the nature of games and the human psychology.

I'm not going to buy MW2, but I think if it's what I've read a couple of places, I honestly can't blame them for anything.

What distortion of human psychology? Did I say at all that playing modern warfare 2 will make you a crazy killer? No, but the excuse that it's only a videogame isn't valid.

And I want to play modern warfare 2, so take that.

I bet the butthurt ones are glad the game didn't ship with it's former tagline: 'Kill everyone.'

I would have liked it better if they had shipped it like that! :-D

But it's still just a game. Even if it seems real every gamer knows that it is fake.

What is that supposed to mean? Clearly the "excuse" (quoted for pejorative intent) is perfectly valid in a vast majority of cases. 40 bots with AI you could sketch on a napkin who "die" are still vastly different than the lives of 40 real people.

Research shows rather the different thing: German TV is not always fair with computer games - well not at all, to be precise - but they seem to cool down a bit. They tested how the human brain reacts on a scene with real humans compared to a scene in a computer game. The scene was almost the same. The computer gamer reacted totally different to the computer scene: All cool, almost no reaction, just analysis of the situation. He KNOWS it is not real, he knows it is a game, his brain files it away as a scene of the game. Showing him the "real" (reenacted) scene, however, he got upset (in his brain). The reaction was totally different.
Tbh, this makes the whole discussion useless. Cool kids watch SAW I-IV (or how many are there now?) anyway ...
