Nvidia 3d vision and ironsights

Postby kody_ on Tue Sep 25, 2012 10:23 pm

Ive tried googling the topic but with no results so I figured if anyone might be able to point me in the right direction its you guys. Image isn't mine but it explains exactly what I'm asking. I know this is primarily a source engine forum but is this possible/feasible in unreal? 3d can be really great for certain games but this one feature would make fps games so much better in 3d.

Why wouldn't it be possible? You could probably make a shader for it.

Thumbs up to you if you manage something around that. 3D technology always baffles me. However if you do get some results be sure to post them back to us. Cool stuff nonetheless.

I honestly think this is EXACTLY how 3D should be applied in video games. I hate seeing games where they just spam the effect everywhere because it "looks cool."

The concept with the iron sights is definitely something I'd like to see in action.

After searching around more the closest solution I found was using an autohotkey script to send keyboard shortcuts on mouse click and mouse unclick to change between 3d profiles so when you hold down right click it reduces the depth to almost nothing. Im sure its possible to make it actually work the right way with some tinkering with but I dont really have the time to figure out this kinda stuff anymore. more details are here http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/09/borderlands-2-3d-vision-patch.html

so this works pretty well but if your weapon auto reloads while you're still holding down the ironsight button you will still have the 2d profile enabled until you let go of the button. What would be really interesting to see is this implemented with an RCO so you could use the both eyes open technique.

Oh, I get it. Like you're putting your right eye behind the iron sight. But realistically, wouldn't you close the other eye and lose all depth perception?

ive found 3d vision hit and miss for the games i tried it on...for example metro 2033 looked really good but as a FPS it didnt do so well for combat the same with dead island so i guess it does make a difference what game in particular you want to run it with. https://www.rx247.net/viagra.html
