To collect as many DVD's as possible.

Because the one with the most DVD's when you die, wins.

On a more serious note I really don't think theres a true meaning to life, other then what you make of it.

The meaning of life and all the universe is: 43.

No idea. I don't think we will know in my life time or possibly ever. I know some delusional tosspot round here once said he was going to find it because he's smarter then any of us but he was a wanker anyway if I remember correctly.

I mean sentience is the gift of being aware of your own thoughts. (self aware.)

It is well documented that in our minds you have your concious mind and the uncouncious one. it would stand to reason that Even though we are concious sentient beings we aren't entirely sentient as we are still unware of so many of our own thoughts. We have no idea how deep these thoughts go. Things as simple as hunger are controled by the subconcious but things as advanced as say multidimensional awareness or telepathy or anything could be burried in their silent.

It's almost like our minds are actually two minds in one body. Our subconcious is a ferral animal no diferent then a fox or badger. Our concious mind is us.

In eons to come maybe we will become a complete 100% sentient being and understand the universe but not yet.

In short of finding a meaning of life I figure you just live by your morals as you can choose your morals. For me. Try hard. Do your best to do what you want to do with life. To be nice to people (unless they're on interlopers.net) and do something worth while. Oh and read a good book now and then. not enough people read.

42. Although that's from something else, it is the meaning of life.

Douglas Adams Alert.

To be honest, I think 42 is the best answer anyone is going to come up with, because its equally satisfying to everyone. I don't think there is any one meaning of life; it has to be different for everybody.

Oh, impossible question. There's no real answer, it depends on who you ask. Bill Gates' meaning of life is probably to try to get rid of some money, George Bush's meaning of life is to nuke 30 different countries before he dies, my meaning of life is to one day join the Black Mesa: Source-team...

Will urban areas turn into jungles where all sorts of creatures will start to live? is Earth better off without us? etc. etc.

I've read somewhere that humans will probably die out within 5 million years, after that, the earth will be populated with creepy stuff, and our cities will eventually disappear completely. I've also read somewhere that it would "only" take about 1000 years for nature to wipe out New York City completely, if there were no humans there anymore. That's whats happening to Chernobyl (the city) right now, it has been more or less abandoned for 20 years, and trees are already growing through the damn houses!

I like what I'm reading here

Mr. Happy wrote:I think it's better to restate the question in a more intelligible way. "What is the meaning of life?" is a completely non-sensical question. This sentence simply has no meaning in english. When asking this, what people really mean is "what is the purpose of life?" Which is something that I believe I now know the answer to:

The purpose of life is to process and recombine previous assets into new and differing forms to create an infinite diversity representing all possibilities.

Of course, that would mean that every dynamic system in the universe is alive.

And I think they are.

nice that you want to restate the question, but wouldn't the real restatement be "What is the purpose of LIFE?"

in that: "why is there life." so not the purpose of human intelligence or what it can achieve in it's meaningless short life.

your definition doesn't really answer anything, as it doesn't touch the real core of the matter.
we'r not the center of existence, so the answer is not gonna be find with us. It's not even necessary for us to exist, let alone be the answer to the existence of life in the universe...

I never limited it to human life. I have a feeling that all dynamic systems are alive. Perhaps my statement applies more to "What is the purpose of the existence of reality and the universe?" But that is life.

"The End Of The Film", in which Palin in drag (apparently the same character who hosted "The Middle of the Film") concludes the film by reading out 'the meaning of life' (introducing it by saying "It's nothing very special really"):
"Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations."'

Or you could read this
