Eh, bullets coming out of M4's nade launcher barrell? Lights look very bland, but I'm getting this nonetheless.

The mapping looks sub-par and why is the sniper rifle left-handed whilst the assault rifle is held to the right?

Those rocket launchers look like they are straight out of HL1, and look nothing like combine-tech at all.

I played this mod, and there were some issues. The cutscenes always made Gordon look like an idiot, because of his facial expression, and any amount of drama was detsroyed, besides, control was taken away from you in the cutscenes and if you were in the wrong place, you would be shot at while there was nothing you could do. But the biggest issue was that, in this mod, I think I killed more Combine soldiers than in HL2, Ep1, Ep2, and Lost Coast combined. Instead of cleverly placing enemies, or making more puzzles, or building up tension with exploration, they send a friggin brigade of Combine at you every other minute, combined with their tendency to rush you with no regard for their own life, often armed with pulse rifles and shotguns, the surprise spawns often tear the player apart. Like almost every time you reach a trigger(which are plentiful) you hear the closing footsteps of from 6 to 10 combine, who reach you within seconds. And I haven't even said anything about the infinite respawns in the map with the huge gates. NEVER use infinitely respawning enemies if the player must move forward, through them.

A very common theme of bad mapping I've seen is the Soldier of Fortune level design. (Corridor Syndrome as some people have put it). All hallways connect at right angles, long square rooms moving to other long square rooms, very little detail is put into most of the rooms. The puzzles consist of just walking to different locations and backtracking, and enemy placement is the consistency of of just nonchalantly placing down 20 enemies in a way reminiscent to every single "My First Single-Player Map" you've ever played.

Every single area looks old, like it's a direct port of a wolfenstein 3D map to source. It just feels like a generic shooter from 1996 everywhere you look.

Originally I bestowed the title of "Most expansive bland corridor shooter ever" to Leon's Map Packs for SoF2 and HL2, but now I must honestly give that title to Strider Mountain.
It's quite simple really. I want to be a professional level designer. I want this to be my job.

Yeah,i was going to write a review on it.

After a few pages of writing on the first 20 minutes of gameplay and how bad it was, i gave up.

it's a shame that most people here don't like SM and to be honest am i quit surpriced about this outcome, on for instance PlanetPhillip(.com) most people gave it a value of "My Personal Vaforite", (what is the highest value there is to give there).
what shows clearly that it is simply not possible to make sp-maps/mods that please everyone, although it still doesn't explain the big difference between this outcome here and on severel other sites.

that people compair it to all my earlier sp-mappacks/sp-mods (Sof2,Cod's, etc)i see as a big compliment, even when it was not intended as such, that is clear, i do get that.
i love Corridor Syndrome (as some people have put it), so it's not more then logical that i map in such a manner. that you find many enemies in my maps is also something that i personaly like, so again its logical that you find this back in the maps i make.

and puzzels, well, personaly i dislike them a whole lot, so again, .... in my work you hardly will find any puzzels, and if they are there they are easely to solve.

still, it's a shame that you guys didn't like it. but again, its simply impossible to make something that is liked by everyone. because my maps do follow this certain patern they are loved by a rather large group, better said. untill now there we're always a little bit more people who did comment positieve on them as negatieve, and as long as this is the case i am allready more then pleased.
why this isn't the case here on this particular site i don't know, should you not agree with this statement then please do for instance read all comments on planetphillip about SM. although i understand that it is a bit much to ask becauyse there are over 100 comments or so there. therefore i have looked again now and have writen down the exact recommandations they gave;

40 people used the recommendations buttons, average scrote; 4.1 (out of 5)

personal favorite 24
play it now 3
maybe 5
avoid it 2
think twice 6

http://www.planetphillip.com/posts/stri ... lf-life-2/

and a simular outcome is known on for instance Moddb.

should you be interested in my next project then please do check for instance here;

I hardly find this to be the best mod I've ever played, nor is it worthy of getting the mod team any jobs at Valve. I may sound like a complete ass hole saying this, but seriously, this mod was simply disappointing. It has hardly any redeeming qualities at all. But all this is mucked up with generally-shoddy level design and thoughtless gameplay. Not one area in the mod is at all pleasant to the eyes. It's all harsh and lifeless. I simply got depressed when playing it.

Users at other sites are simply easily-impressed, whereas users at Interlopers look for quality. You can't change the fact that some people simply will not be impressed with this mod.

i know that there are many people that aren't impressed by my maps, i said this before above, and i don't mind. like i also said before, is it simply impossible to please everyone. i am allready pleased that more people do like them then don't. it would be highly not realistic to think or hope that your maps are linked by everyone.
