I just realized as I was about to start the first new challenge that I don't have a name for these. I was thinking daily modeling challenges (DMC), but I dunno, I've stolen enough ideas from the daily sketch group.

War-torn couch
Thrown weapons
Destroyed building

But war-torn couch has a sense of humor that I want more of.

Have a look at these guys if you're still confused about all this, they're the inspiration for it all

When did my idea of war-torn become war-torn couch :|

Considering 3d applications follow the properties of space and volume, how would we create the physically impossible? (Though scenes such as the stairs on the wall could be done...)

Someone already made a map of that stairs on the wall thing for an earlier map battle, so that idea is out...

People have made real life instances of seemingly impossible shapes. They require a very specific perspective, but it can be done - including in a 3D editor. http://www.cs.technion.ac.il/~gershon/EscherForReal/

I'm starting a regular speed challenge Thursday night to appease the demons.

I could go with some suggestions, but I'll manage without.

So guys, how about allowing texturing from now on?

Because the way I see it the time a person spends texturing something is time they lose on detailing the geometry, so it's a trade off, and it's just good practice. Of course the textures would have to be made on the spot, just like the models.

So it would either be spend 2 hours making some complex geometry,

or spend two hours doing some basic geometry, then trying to unwrap and make a texture from scratch to compensate for it.

You can use materials, I guess, but I'd rather you unwrapped and textured your model that way. If you used materials you'd probably be using the stuff that comes with your modeling package, and I'd prefer that you made everything from scratch.

But it's your choice.
