Yeah, you just can't get enough detail with only 1000 triangles. Alright. Textures are allowed. However, you can only make one 512 x 512 diffuse map with another map of your choice in the alpha layer.

This is getting exiting.

I might enter if we can texture it. I was trying to make a teddy bear and it wasn't working out too well... It looked like it was made of wood.

Like I said in the suggestions thread: Plush + low poly count = impossible! You need the ruffles and folds of cloth to get a plush feel, and those are poly-gobbling monsters ;)

Should make it 128x128, it adds a challenge and requires nice clean uv's.

I have absolutely no experience with extreme low poly modeling or texturing, but would that be enough detail?
Seems like it should at least be 256.

Imagine dumping the Mona Lisa and some glue in a blender with the top off, hitting "puree" for ten seconds and taking a picture of the ceiling.
i had fun once, and it was awful.

raw meat, cant you make this a speed challenge please?
next challenge can be a poly/tris limit.. and have a more suitable theme like meshed suggested:
meshed wrote:Howabout small accessories and handheld items? eg. cameras, torches, cellphones, rings, watches etc etc

might go well with the tri limit

Work on your texture, Duke! Add whiskers, a nose, etc.

I changed the required texture resolution to 256^2. Working on my entry now.

I may also extend this battle, since the introduction of textures seems to have killed it.

Do we have to upload the texture with the render and wire? ( Maybe that would be a good idea, showing the 256X256 image .. )

Yes. Yes we should. In fact, uploading textures will be required.
