DMC 2 - Rube-Goldberg Machine

Postby RawMeat3000 on Mon Jun 29, 2009 12:48 pm

The best way to go about making one of these is probably to start with the goal modeled, like say, dropping a cube of sugar into a cup of tea, or lighting a cigarette, and then work your way backwards as far as you can.

Only rules here are that is has to be made after this post, and it must be made in a modelling program. Anything and everything else goes.

But the machine is activated thru a Rube Goldberg, possibly one of the Rube's that it makes!

OH DAMN THAT'S CONFUSING!!

Hooray. I am not the only one who was amused by the title.

Raw, I think that by making these bursts of challenges is actually going to lower the participation. Having one competition at a time, imho, is the way to go.

I don't neccessarily agree that it's an overkill number of challenges, it's just that the topics have to be less hard, since there are multiple challenges.

This theme, for example, is pretty tough for beginner modellers, IMO.

It is, and I was planning on starting a streetlight themed challenge, but I moved to California just now, and now I'm just hanging out with old friends.

I'll start another right now.

This one was interesting, but at the same time not. I don't really see myself using the end result in-game. It's also, as vcool said, too hard. :)

Holy shit I think we have a winrar here! D:

No, really, very good work.:) there was a glitch with a cart wheel towards the end, but it wasn't anything significant.

:D

Thanks for the nice comments. as for the wheel at the end its meant to spin round like that. it’s the one wheel that’s not really touching the floor and freaks out. you must of seen it happen on a shopping trolley.

That's a pretty interesting thought you put into making it. I know exactly what you mean.

The only issue is that some people might not make the connection right away, so they might take it as awkward or a glitch or something, as did Vcool.

Anyway, that was pretty freakin awesome. I like tea; cold green tea with honey that is, not the hot kind. :D
