Modelling Challenge - Around the House (Vote & Final Images)

Postby RawMeat3000 on Mon Nov 30, 2009 1:00 am

Incentives make the world go around. And in this battle it was the choice of three prizes, Left 4 Dead 2, Borderlands, and anything up to $20 from Steam. The first place winner get's dibs on whatever prize they like, second place gets the same choice between the remaining two prizes, and third place gets whatever awesome cool thing is left.

I'd like to thank everyone who participated; 8 entries is something a lowly moderator like me can only dream of. And hopefully battles in the future will have the same kind of energy this one did (maybe more prizes to come).

Now a couple of you didn't finish, but I'm including you in the poll anyway, because you provided in game shots, so I at least know that the model files actually do exist, I just don't have them yet. I hope to get those files from you guys soon so I can include them here.

But enough nitpicking

Went for Stoopdapoop. Looks good in-game and seems to fit. Texture stretches quite obviously in some parts though.

Is it just me or does everyone have to ability to alter their vote after it's been submitted?

There's an option when you make a poll to allow revotes. I usually tick it, in case you want to change your vote in light of new information, blah blah. It doesn't change anything so I figure why not.

really would have liked to see wires for all of these :(

But my vote definately goes to Raw, he did got a good looking prop with very little texture space, and (from what I can tell) the mesh looks clean.

Threw my hat in for stoop.

Not a whole lot for texture detail (not a whole lot of detail to texture) but whats there is great and it's a clean mesh to boot.

Favorite part is that bit of specular you can see in that in game shot.

rawmeat from now on, prizes or not, the models should always be textured and in-game
I mean that's what we all learned modeling for anyway and its more fun :D

I voted for Stoop too, but I yelled at him for that specular map! It's a furry chair! It shouldn't be shiny!

I like all of them!

Raw, looks like once you got some prizes in, everyone started participating. :P

Stoop, that texture stretching on the side makes me a sad panda :(

That's good, I just thought my browser was up the shit or something because I also never see the homepage banner.

Meotwister's entry is nice, but my vote still stands.

I think it's really cool that these can be used in-game by the community and as source-maps has said, it would be nice if all battles from now on had usable content.

hey, it's leather now. Shut your face.

and vcool, I know, but I had to RUSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I had the model done in about 4 hours. I think I might fix the stretching and reupload the model after voting is done.

Nah the specular totally works especially if you've seen that like worn down leather that starts to get shiny after a while.

But I know how ya feel about rushing the texturing, I didnt get near as done with my diffuse texturing as I'd have liked.
