Modelling Challenge #4 - Steampunk

Postby RawMeat3000 on Mon Apr 02, 2012 11:01 pm

Hello world! Back by popular demand, I present to you the 4th (because I just renamed all the "model battles") official modelling challenge: Steampunk!

Here we will create... well whatever you want! Using as many polygons as you want, with the biggest textures, and the slowest render times! There are no limits to this battle other than what you impose upon yourself. Of course, I'm sure the voters will appreciate things like low polygons counts, tightly packed UVs, and in-engine screenshots, these are by no means a requirement. This is a challenge for you to experiment, go nuts, and at the end of it all, have a nice Steampunk-themed addition to your budding portfolio.

The few rules I will impose are, that all submissions be no more than 3 images, include wireframes, and include any and all texture maps you may have used. WIP shots are HIGHLY encouraged, I'd like proof that no one is simply posting a model they did a year ago.

For the winners of the final vote, Black_Stormy has already pledged a $10 Steam game to the prize pool, with the condition that a minimum of 3 people enter. I may also contribute something, but I'll save any announcement until the end of the battle. IT'S NOT ABOOT PRIZES, EH.

Steampunk Man dissaproves of very high polygon counts! (i drew this just for you guys)

This battle will end in 2 weeks. April 16th, Monday 12am Pacific Standard Time.

Edit: The new deadline is the 30th of April, 12am Pacific Standard Time

Have fun guys! Looking forward to seeing what you make!

Very cool. When I get better at the whole pipeline of XSI in a larger scale, I know that I am going to join these competitions.

Okay so I lied, I don't texture well but I guess I went ahead and made a model anyway. Or more like a scene for the theme...

Well when I saw the Canine Pedestrial, the thought came of what it would be strolling in front of. So yeah I got carried away too, so much so that I am behind on a lot of things. Btw sorry that I couldn't get a better render shot.
