Hello everybody, this is my first post, so without further a-do,

this is my most recent map here, i messed around with curvature, and texturing. i'm thinking about making it into a quick level for the heck of it, but it would be a totally different atmosphere.

\/ my first map, an apartment, i abandoned it after i learned about using the power of 2 in brushes.

an attempt at a new york style atmosphere never finished it, but it was fun to look at.

just an experiment with achitecture and skybox. my second most recent, whipped it up in three days, last finish had rain and lightning. it was really cool, had it hooked up to a logic_timer and ran it with random lightning and thunder, was an awesome lighting effect when it worked. had the lights setup in several different locations... but it crashes on loading now, if anyone wants to take a crack at fing the problem i'll post the log at the end.

well thats my current stash, i still need to learn alot of stuff, next up is scripting, ai, and modeling. please feel free to criticize and compliment, i would like to know where i could improve.

Ok, I have to say I love the highway dude. Finish and release that, for real. I love it.

I love highway maps. Get an awesome skybox and stuff, and just go mad with it.

DO IT.

1st screen looks very good, and the street texture has a real nice bumpmap, looks so good. But doing a map about a highway is quite difficult for gameplay, layout usually is boring.

But try doing something with it, looks great ^_-

Yeah, that highway is cool. It reminds me a lot of Matrix: Reloaded. ;)

As previously stated by everyone, your highway looks great. The lighting and everything is spot on. I'd agree I'd love to see a map of some sort with the involving highway but it would be difficult to turn it into a balanced map with a nice flow.

All your other shots look good, still need a bit of lighting work. Good work man.

Dude, that freeway is fucking sex. No joke, it's awesome. Reminded me of the freeway chase in the second Matrix film.
i had fun once, and it was awful.

That highway is awesome, if you cant think of anything else to do with it, have a look at Zombie Master and think about turning it into a map for that, it would be immense.

Everything i've seen looks good, bar a couple of things that are to do with the engine and nothing to do with the mapper. (ive been playing crysis too long :( )

The highway look good, although you should think about making the lanes broader. If I am not mistaken, they are 128 units each, right? I tend to do them 160 units broad, I think it is more realistic (for inner-town roads). I can even imagine 192 units being the right measure for highway lanes. If they are already that broad (hard to make out because of custom textures), I am sorry. Keep up the good work. :D

well i just finished a rough layout of the interchange, still got lots to do, i may just model it to retain the curves, we'll see..
too lazy to cubemap this time.

like i said its a rough layout, so i got a lot of tweaking to do.

edit, is there a reason why there are gaps in the textures? it checked out perfect in hammer, is there a way to make this into a model? i'm relatively new at this [2 mos], so if theres a good tut, please point the way.

My eyes pretty much popped out my head looking at the last few pics of the freeway or whatever it gets called.

That is seriously incredible stuff. Reminds me of part of Kane and Lynch.

Wow you're great with roads man. The only thing I don't like is the normal map on the street textures. A little too rough and bold. Looks a little weird in my opinion. Maybe if you decrease the density of the shading a little and give it less height it will look better. But other than that, freaking awesome. Can't wait to see it in action.
