if you're really willing, i'd love to make full colour textures and sprites for a fully 3d rendition of the game. this really brought me back.

By 3d you mean actual 3d don't you? As in first/third person 3d? As in not like the Pokémon world he's trying to faithfully re-create?

It's looking great how it is. Stick to the gameboy version of things and it'll stay great.

That's awesome O.O. The perspective on the building is a little weird though, they are a bit distorted around the top.

Well, I am sure you can make it multiple levels big. What I mean is that instead of making a flat 3D level, you just make the buildings textures, but when you walk in you just teleport to a room below the map. I'm sure that will give you enough space? :/

It's Christmas so he has to cave to our demands!

If he's kind enough to host a mapping competition, he's kind enough to poke peoples mums!

rofl nice bump. But yeah, I did stop working on this. I'm working on a project right now, somewhat similair to this, and IMO it's better. :)

Who knows, maybe one day I'll return to this. I had a re-occurring problem with the textures though, which bugged me. Since they all had alpha channels, if you looked at them straight on, you could see other textures behind that texture through it. So I was like BAH.

I might just load it up and properly put in some viewcams so it looks and works right. I'm not too keen on releasing things though as I'm sure you can look through all my stuff and see. I do lots of cool little things, making rooms flip, created huge sky towers, making pokemon stuff, whatever, but I never release it, just for the sake of, I dunno, owning it I guess.

WUTEVS. When I saw this bumped I was like, WAT?

The bump was mainly just to see to what stage this ever got to. Thanks for answering in that regard. :)

Huh. I dunno about the black and white. On the gameboy color, there was a nice color tint to each city and some decent use of color. On the original gameboy, there was that old greenish tint to the screen. Pokemon was never pure black and white in my memorys :P

Heh, I remember when this first came out, me and 2 of my friends bought the game and we all went a different character. I went squirtle, and they chose bulbasoar and charmander.

I guess I'm the only one who never went through that Pokemon stage? I must say...wow. It's decent conceptually, but I think building the buildings themselves and texturing them in 3d with custom textures would look and feel much better. I think being able to explore the 2d world in a modern 3d way would accent it better as far as it being a "Pokemon Source" game/mod.
