I could see why you would want the stuff. As it has modern props. But... since when was ripping L4D content okay...

I mean, stuff from AlienSwarm is definitely okay since it's a free game.

@gambini: Look on Facepunch for the L4D2 collection. That's where i got mine.

@gary: I would say that ripping L4D content was okay ever since L4D promoted and served the "Escape from City 17" campaign, or that one time when Team Fortress 2 got mashed up with Portal and the TF2 team advertised and supported it with glee.

After seeing this "morals of usage" question pop up from time to time over the course of several years, I feel very comfortable with using them (just not using props that are exclusive to L4D, such as the love tunnel or destructible physics models or something). If I get a letter from Valve or (more importantly) a lot of negative feedback from the community, then I will switch them out for something more acceptable. I already asked on my Mod DB about it and nobody seems to mind.

And to be perfectly honest, I would call them placeholders more than anything else because one day I would like to create some desks of my own.

BTW Gary, are those ASW props the right size for FPS view? That is, if I did end up grabbing some and moving them to Ep2, would they be too small compared to a stock prop?

You tell me if they are the right size:

(These work in the 2007 engine)

Well what i was going to say is pretty much the same than what Joe Rogers said. L4D2 comes with a lot of assets from Hl2 and CSS. I´m pretty sure they give a fuck as long as this porting goes between their own titles.

Generally I do my own models, but with something like that desk, and considering it comes from a game from the same company, i´d not mind to save me the work and use it :D mostly considering hl2 doesn´t come with good desks for offices.

@gary: those props fit very well. they are also very clean props, so they will probably only fit into some very niche areas of the mod. thanks for providing though!!

Here's another update, based on recent suggestions. I kept the trim but changed the textures up some. Do you think I should just get rid of the trim? I really like it but...

I'm adding a second room as Arma suggested. I'm gonna make it the Combine equipment reverse engineering lab.

A million times better, I'd just get rid of the trim though, it doesn't look right. And in the back with the brick wall maybe add some ripped wall paper at the left and right edges so it's not so squared off.

The trim might look nice if it was done right, but the way the light is hitting it, and the texture looks off, I don't know.

It just feels NOT RIGHT.

Reskin them. Or do the lazy thing and justgive them detail textures... like I did.

Trim is fine. Grafitti makes no sense though. Why would it be behind all the things? And if its old grafitti it should be a bit faded.

Spray paint, inside, on concrete, doesn't fade. Not within 50 years or so at least. It is odd that there is so much of it, but it benefits the scene more than it doesn;t make sense so I say leave it. The trim on the roof is still bad though, make it a different texture or change it from a diagonal edge to a pipe or something.

The grafitti makes the scene too noisy. Hell everything makes the scene too noisy and hard to read. It's well made but it feels like you used a bit of everything so I don't get a coherent signal.

Add all grafitti to a visgroup and get screenshots with them hidden.

I think the texture resolution might be at fault rather then the details them self but doesnt hurt to try what vcool is saying. Always good to try stuff like that. Other than that, it's been fun following your progress and I think its looking good, especially given the poly amount/resolution of the content you're working with.

I have adjusted to tree to make the branching a bit more organic and give it a bit of flow through the structure. Think it helped. And then I added tons of foliage ^^. Have been struggling tons as well with the lightning of foliage and kinda called it a day at this stage.

dejavo you have some amazing work. the water in the lake looks *very* nice, and so does all the foliage.
