Hi, posted a pic of this map in the map pimpage thread, and someone suggested i make it its own thread.. so here it is.

some things left to do;
-decorating the interiors, right now its just empty houses
-audio; rain atmosphere sounds, train sound effects ( a train comes rushing by every now and then). I have some sounds of rain dripping on windows that i wish to get in there. You know, for that cosy rainy-day feeling, wich is essential when you're killing terrorists.

here's the pic that i posted in the pimpage thread

and here's a pic from above without fog so you can see the entire map.
Standard "fy"-layout with a twist, or something :D

I like! The work you did the the foliage looks great; Probably some of the best I've seen done for what it is :)

Great job!

2 things,

1. is there really going to be a train going across the tracks?

and 2. what game type is this? and If it's deathmatch can you also release other forms of the map aswell?

and for CC I would say you move the T spawn to the left, perhaps in another building or in a field, because you might want to break up the strait line made from the road.

@penney
thanks, im thinking of making my own hedge model/texture as well, those Day of Defeat ones are getting quite old :D

@jgoodroad
There's a train, comes speeding by every few minutes, as i already said! :D
its a counterstrike map! No win condition yet though, maybe i should change the name to fy_regn... "cs" is for hostage rescue isn't it?
about the straight line, it's not a big problem, there's so much fog so you cant really see each other anyhow and plus the cars help break visibility. wouldn't want to play it with bots though :D
Also people tend not to go down the road, they head for the flanks.

CSS has several gametypes, mainly bomb attack/defend where the terrorists need to plant a bomb and defend it while the CT's try to stop them or defuse the bomb, and of course hostage rescue and by the line of site I mean a ct or T could run a bit then fire randomly into the other teams spawn while they are still selecting their weapons. this is a problem for Fy_maps too, but I guess the spawns could always be moved during the beta playtests

Visually stunning.

I think it's a shame it doesn't fall in to one of CS's two main gametypes though, because people who play deathmatch/gungame etc. are usually perfectly happy to play fugly fullbright mario/simpsons/lego maps.

thanks for all the replys!

I dont really make maps to be successful in the cs-community or anything.. I build them to play with friends, wich might seem strange considering how much effort i put into them :D This one i'll put up for download though

The typical CSS gameplay, that for instance Dust2 offers, is getting old in my opinion so im trying to get away from that. And im not a Leveldesigner by heart, I just love to make pretty looking maps. The layout kind of grows out of some idea i have for a setting.. and im fond of making Swedish "Villaområden" :P
http://www.map-factory.org/half-life-2/deathmatch/dm-stad-final-1330 just look, here's another villaområde!

I have an idea of layout with the spawns that i would like to test, wich should make the gameplay even more different than from standard CS-maps, here's an old image of that idea. Too wierd? what do you think?

Cheers!

You do a really good job at making it look like a Swedish "Villaområde", I live in one myself, I'd like to see a more sunny setting though, both your maps are foggy. (Even though that's pretty much how the weather is here.)

From the overhead view, it looks like the Ts being surrounded would be horrible for gameplay, but actually looking at the ground shots - it's a really defendable position, and not knowing where the CTs will be approaching from will lead to some really interesting matches.

Also, do I spy the line of a connected path_track on the rails? What mischief are you up to ;)

Looks stunning.
