Im searching for water texture from Half Life 2 to port to L4D 2, named water_wasteland002a. I found so far those:
water_wasteland002a.vmt
water_wasteland002a_beneath.vmt
water_dx70_opaq.vmt
I still cant find water002a which is base texture and should be in "nature" folder in HL 2. I didnt find yet in internet this file. Does anyone can give me this texture file?

Code: Select all
//   "$basetexture" "nature/water002a"      // The main texture for the water surface.
"%tooltexture" "nature/water002a"      // This is the texture that shows up in the Hammer browser.

It's commented out. It's not used and tooltexture means the hammer browser picture, which is not even needed. All you need dudv, normal map and possibly some others.

In hammer and game for now I have this water as black-purple texture. And it says:
Code: Select all
// The main texture for the water surface.

which is main texture the one I cant get out from vpk file. Now it dont crash like before but cant expand "+" sign in GCFScape.

I searched my computer and I found this.

No promises if it doesn't look right, though.

The file you gave me is metal I think. However I replaced your texture with water from l4d 2 and effect is similar to the water I wanted. It was all about settings in vtf not texture. Also thanks for the help.
