Wow, I... don't even know what I'm doing here. I have to agree with Major Banter, I don't know that I have the necessary skills. I mean, I need a job, but this would be like a dream job, and I don't even have a level design portfolio.

I think I would have died and gone to heaven if I had a chance to work as a professional level designer. Just out of curiosity, is this the "MMO Level Designer" position on Massive's website?

I'm guessing it means 'at an intermediate level of proficiency, or higher'.

ZOMG, DREAM JOB!!!!!!!!!111 I've always wanted to work for a publisher that rapes its customers with DRM and lazy ports.

Gee, when you put it that way, what was I thinking? I'd much rather be a wedding photographer than a mapper.

Wedding photographer's a good job. That said, I'd much rather be a mapper, if I didn't have to sell out to do so. I guess it depends how much Ubisoft's practices bother you, but if you're looking for work in an industry that you want to see flourish, I'd say it would be ill advised to work for a company that seems intent upon damaging it.

Well in their defence: if you want to work on AAA titles you are almost certainly going to work for one of the big three publishers at some point. They are all doing the same stuff and playing the same game. As far as I'm concerned Ubi is the best of the three right now.

Intermediate + would imply senior to lead generally speaking but a great portfolio and a good attitude is your best weapon in the industry not grind based xp. I know there are people on this forum who should be pro LDs already but don't have the self belief or whatever right now to actually go for it.

That's why I posted ;)

Good luck to anyone that applies!

Hmm. Interesting that this makes it's way to Interlopers.

Woe Kitten wrote:We're looking for two intermediate+ level designers. Hit me up if you're interested

So what are you asking of in a applicant right now? I mean the necessary requirements on what your looking for?

Some say, 3+ Years Industry Experience (like Valve), or others base it on what they need. Question is what is it your needing? I know some of the guys here at Interlopers, have the skills as a real level designer would, but haven't had the time to deal in a studio. So is this kinda a intern's opportunity? I got nothing against that, I know I would take the time to put in a app' myself if only you had asked this about two to three years from now.

Your looking at a level dev' working his way up, but is still to far down the ladder for this. Good luck to the rest of you "Lopers" that can apply for this, just make those Portfolios stand out. That's is my last bit of advice in the matter. :smt023
