new blog with mod/dev interviews, how-to's, and more

Postby novalin on Thu Feb 21, 2013 10:44 pm

Hi all-

A few months back I started a new blog, which features:
* interviews with developers/modders
* how-to tips and guides (e.g. Hammer editor)
* ...and more on the way

I have 2 interviews up now, both developers who have modded using the Source engine
* Interview with Anders Fray, Creator of The Final Cut for L4D2
* Interview with R.T. Frisk, Creator of Suicide Blitz 2 for L4D2
In the very near future I'll have some more interviews up with CS:GO modders as well. You can see my CS:GO work on there right now as well.

If this interests you, please check it out:

If you have a developer that you would like to recommend to be featured, please use the contact form on my website to let me know.

Make the images clickable so I can see them in a big resolution.
Will read the blog too.

Good idea, and that's easy to do. I will look into that soon.

You mean community mappers right, not people who work at valve?

Right, because "CS:GO devs" would usually be read as "People who were developers of CS:GO". It pays to be clear about what you mean...

Current interviews are a mix of modders and professional developers (eg l4d2 mod but also professional work, as seen in the latest article)

Csgo interviews are planned with modders

Future interviews will be with developers of real games (a mix of people)

So in summary there is and will be both represented.

I hate to detract further, especially when you're running an excellent blog with some really good content, but you do need to get your terminology correct; you'd say 'prominent CS:GO community contributors' - or something to that effect. A title that doesn't belittle them into just men and women who've mapped for CS:GO, but equally doesn't create the incorrect connotation that they're paid developers, when that'd be a flat-out lie.

In essence, you'd separate professional developers and amateur developers from amateur contributors (modders) in your terminology used.

Keep up the fantastic work though, its great to see someone keeping the community alive and has the balls to wangle interviews with people!

That's a fair argument. I edited the title too.
