I was messing around with an old model in source and I noticed it suffers the same problem as your model which is the diffuse isn't detailed enough to make up for the simplistic phong highlights. What I mean to say is the your metal doesn't read as metal without the phong highlighting and so for a lot of the time (lack of highlights) the model will look flat.

My old model for example

I see what you mean.
Ill probably keep it that way, it looks pretty nice either way. :P

Try adding cubemap reflections (very subdued), or rimlighting. Could help with the metal look

Thats what I did, just don't know whether it's good or not.

The upper parts are fine, it's the base that is lacking. I would avoid black and go for a more greyish tone like the little bit connecting the base to the red and white section. I'd also avoid a normal map if you're using one, doesn't look like it needs it. I suppose you have to ask yourself, what material is it? Right now it reads like black rock.

@Armageddon

I was going to make a dinosaur for this but I wussed out, I don't think i'd be too good at modelling one. Took me long enough to make a damn car - I started this project in July last year! Took a few months off around Christmas though

@srredfire

Haha thanks

You know, it's sexy as hell, but I see a tons of things wrong with it. I've watched the damn movies a billion times over so I should know! The extra lights on the front are a little too big, the text on the tire is too close to the wheel, the tread is slightly off I think, the design of the car in general is too sleek (this was the early 90s remember...) in the front maybe as well. The Jurassic Park logo should be a touch larger as well iirc.
