Cannot find custom materials in directory

Postby JacekRaketno on Thu Nov 08, 2012 4:03 pm

Hey-

So I have this really simple, yet aggravating problem: I made some very basic textures of real building facades and placed them into my materials folder: /steam/steamapps/username/sourcesdk_content/hl2/materialsrc/custom_materials

I've also placed the same content in the: /steam/steamapps/username/sourcesdk_content/portal/mapsrc
and in the regular game content folders. Yet, when I run Hammer, none of the .vtf's or .vmt's are available in the texture application tool.

I don't think there's a problem with the file path, because I've put the files in every directory (!) so maybe there's an issue with the materials I've created.

Example:
"LightmappedGeneric"
{
"$basetexture" "name of file with no extension"
}

The facades don't need to be super fancy or realistic, just clear so that people can read the names of the locations.
Btw I'm using Hammer 2009 with the Portal engine.

Let me know if this doesn't make any sense.

You don't put them in mapsrc, you put them in steam/steamapps/yaname/portal/portal/materials. If you dont have a folder called materials in steam/steamapps/yaname/portal/portal make one! :)
