UV texture sheet size question for models

Postby plagueofburia on Thu Feb 13, 2014 3:46 pm

Hi,

I have some basic questions and was wondering does the UV texture sheet of a model have to be 256x256, 512x512, 1024x1024? Would it be okay to create a texture sheet of say 1024x128 512x256 and so on? Does that cause problems if the texture sheet is a different size?

This would be for models created for HL2 ep2 I use Blender if that makes any difference.

Any information would be great.

If I remember correctly as long as it is in powers of 16 it will work.

Thanks excellent jimonions, for the response. Okay I probably will try a texture sheet something like 512x128 then

I am designing some wires that are long but not wide your answer has helped me, cheers.

You can make it any size you want as long as it's a power of two. I.e as you listed 512x256, 1024x128, etc etc.

Thanks, MrTwoVideoCards, decided on various texture sheet sizes, varying from 128, 256, 512 and 1024. That should be okay then.
