The Fall of City Thirteen...

Postby Third on Tue Apr 01, 2008 8:13 pm

Is a mod that i and a friend are working on, its early days yet and probably wont get finished, but if it does i assure you, it will be the biggest event in gaming since a really good game.

The story is vague at the moment, but is essentially a parallel to Gordon arriving in City 17.
City 13 however fared differently, the combine having an altogether different purpose for the once thriving metropolis...

Stay Tuned.
Actually dont, unless you like waiting for mods/ posts that will never come. :|

that should look better...
And to get on topic, the map looks good, more footage would help on giving more crits but from what I can see, the lighting is really good and your brushwork is okay.

I'm disappointed! I'm not working on my new-ravenholm-esque area with the intention in mind never to finish it!

admittedly, releasing it is an extreme doubt - but the going will be slow regardless. I should hope to finish the first couple of chapters by the summer holidays; support and ideas would be great!

But i'm confident we can at least finish this thing

AND WHADDYA MEAN AVERAGE BRUSHWORK?!

:p

Going for a significantly visual different style than City 17 I hope, otherwise you might as well just set it there.

the whole idea, is, as Third says, is to produce a more smashed up and combified city - perhaps a little back story would make sense

City 13 was subject to a harsher combine rule and a cusp of thier experiements on humans; whether it be troops or headcrabs. This dwindling of the population coupled with the supression field destroyed the human population of City 13 except for a few human survivors. As for what happened to the combine - well, those that didnt get out or established bases got a more interesting fate than most.

In essence, City 13 is a rusted, dying hulk.

You should have a castle. And lightning. Yeahh....Combine Dracula pwns, bitches!

Sorry, the only reason I thought that is because the train station looks almost like a dungeon, but maybe that's just me.

Looks cool, great lighting, keep up the work.

Wasn't there already a mod called City 13? I seem to recall wiggle working on it (now defunct though so don't worry about conflicts

There was a City 16 mod, but it was pulled (annoyingly)

I haven't checked the availability, but i'm pretty sure City 13 is fairly unusual

Thanks for the thought though

Btw, we have a Steam Community group - The Fall of City 13 (naturally)

support would be welcome

I would have to agree the screenshots reminds me of a dungeon or something of that caliber, dunno if you were aiming for that, thou.

Also you definitely need to work on your brushwork, it looks too blocky atm.

I feel the blockiness and I raise you atmosphere, and lightings a part of it so yeah, work hard on the atmosphere since personally I think it beats brushwork any day but still don't ignor brushwork, it's really important too!

The second and third shots look more or less fine (I'd add something to make it more atmospheric though...colour correction?)

The first one really needs work. Doesn't look like a subway station to me D:

fact is, guys, all this advice is great

except what can we do with "it's too blocky"?

get out paint and ring some problems, name what we can add, make suggestions about "rounding this corner" and "adding some props here" - THAT'S useful info

(i'm really worried what you lot will say to my town now  )
