Construction Worker

You are Sam. Sam Hawsky, the average builder on an average construction site. Then one day you come to work, but as it would seem. Everybody is dead. Rather, not dead. But undead. The living zombies now shamble towards you as aim to destroy what used to be your former co-workers with your trusty weapons. This isn't war, just another day on the job for a Construction Worker.

RECRUITING -

Mappers X2
And maybe a modeler

This is going to be a small scale project, shouldn't be too large. Should be fun though. I mean, killing zombies? Isn't that the epitome of fun?

Zombies. Basic but solid idea. And the idea sounds fun.

I think couple new weapons and models would do the trick. So I'd recommend you to find someone with experience on making working and nice looking weapons.

Do you need a concept artist? I could work on that department for you. I could also work as co-designer for the basic things in the mod. Are you interested?

Spot the missing 'you' :)

Personally I would phrase it:
... zombies now shamble forward as you aim to destroy your former co-workers...

Either way I respect what you are generally trying to do starting all these projects but could you please post some kind of examples of past success because it's not fair to ask people to invest such a significant quantity of time purely on the basis of your unqualified promise. No offence, we've had pleanty of fakers around here in the past, and for any professional past work should not be hard to show... you didn't get a project manager position at Blizzard by just walking through the door and going 'I WANTS A JOBZOR!'.

Also if you just started at Blizzard you might not want to sink so much time into these extra projects. You'll regret it when crunch time comes around! (says me... quite possibly the most hypocritical person in the world... see my sig)

Sorry, but my hard-drive was wiped out recently in an airport and I lost most of my work with it. And don't worry, I can manage my time efficiently enough to be able to balance two projects and my work. What happened to the element of trust in this place?

Oh God. Here we go again.

Okay at least your last idea was quite original eventhough you had bugger all groundwork. Why don't you just make this mod as a map in left4dead on your own? I fail to see any distinguishing features, sounds like a map. You should just make this in L4D if you want to make it. I feel as if you don't really care what you make as long as you can say LOOK WHAT I PROJECT LED! I WAS THE CREATOR AND PERSON BEHIND THIS SUCCEEDING, ALL SUCKLE ON MY TEATS OF GREATNESS.

Seriously, I don't know, nor care, how things work outside of interlopers with this kind of thing in the industry, but as has been reitterated here, you need some groundwork, a solid fleshed out original idea, some work, clear structured ideas and a good plan. I think take your last idea and do something like that on a smaller scale.

First off, I'm doing this because everybody wanted some proof that I wasn't just somebody who demanded attention. I am going to get a few projects under my belt in this forum here and then go onto it. Next, just because it hasn't received the same amount of attention as my last project does not mean it wont be as polished.

I don't know what everyone else here will think, but personally I think you've missed the point everyones trying to make and the point of modding. I think you've missed it by a good few miles.

Maybe I have. Maybe I haven't. Maybe you should expend some faith and find out.

Well like I said, lots of people have come on here with scams so we're well within our rights not to just go on trust. Also the modding community these days is run more like a not-for-profit business than a ragtag collection of amatuers (at least when it's done well) so everyone expects references and proof of past work.

I tell you what: if you want to pm me your name (I won't tell it to anyone) I'll check you out on the internal activision mail list and then we can silence all the doubters :)

No. I would rather keep my identity private, thank you. Not that I don't trust you, but I don't trust the internet.

Well, Blink. Every now and then people want to keep their identity private. Is that okay?

Such attitude in the past posts! Though I'd have to agree with KILLA, he's right, and most people want to help out a mod that has some already finished content. Sure you have to start somewhere, but that type of thing is reserved for say a mod team, who has actually released a project, then moved onto another one. Thats a reliable type of work flow because the same guys who released the past mod are now going to make one again, and are recruiting.

Wait untill your at least half done with your project, or ever at least 1/4th done with it. Get some mapping layed out, show people that the project is serious, and that it really is moving forward, and not in need of other people to seriously help to make said mod move forward, people like to hop on the train as it's moving.

This not only helps in creativity and inspiration to follow team mates, but also for productivity. Having even two guys cranking out loads of content is enough to get anyone excited to make content themselves, but people waiting for features to be completed, or can't really help themselves quickly loose intrigue. Especially when that train is dead slow.
