Interwave Studios: Source Coder Needed

Postby Silverfell on Mon Nov 16, 2009 2:33 pm

Looking to make waves in the gaming world? Interwave Studios is hiring an independent, self-managed coder to join our Nuclear Dawn development team.

The ideal candidate will have to be able to manage their own time, and to deliver timely, high quality work on a tight schedule.

Part of your daily responsibilities will be developing a range of features and technologies for Nuclear Dawn, working remotely with a team of coders using project management and voice communication software.

General requirements for the position include:

- Over 5 years of general experience with C++
- Experience with Valve's Source Engine (established mod, or licensed game)
- Excellent problem solving and software design skills
- Enjoying working in a team
- Comfortable working remotely

Being awesome and kicking ass at coding are not required, but will considerably help your chances.

If you're interested, please apply for the position at jobs@interwavestudios.com, and don't forget to include a copy of your CV.

The things we tell small nooby mod teams should also apply to bigger/better teams/companies.

Information and media are key.

You didn't even gave a link to your website.

Does this really belong in "mod talk" seeing as this is a commercial project? I know this is the only remotely relevant subforum, but should we have a dedicated one for commercial job postings? Also seeing as this is a commercial game, you may want to explain what compensation you'll be offering.

Delta_NL Not only does the link show on his e-mail address he also said the mod name several times.

He doesn't need to post media or a link.
Though adding a link is easier.

Adding a link is professional. This post is not. It is a list of words. I am not interested in words. I want what I'd be working on. I'm out.

Are you expecting the person to move to where you are located (if you have such as site)?
What compensation are you offering? Stake in the game? Full salary?

Also would you mind if I modeled this concept?

I really like the design.

Why should I have to cut, copy and paste or google the mod? The answer is: I shouldn't. This is their advert for a position in their team, yet they included no media and we had to do the work to get a link to the site (and thus find out more about the company and project).

So, I'm gonna be careful and paraphrase here, so that I don't overstep the disclaimer on the end of the Interwave Operations Director's email which I just received. Having been threatened with him using his contacts (recruitment managers etc) at "many major studios" to assure them that "I would be far too much of a thorn for any of them to ever hire", I'm going to ask any moderator who reads this, to delete my previous post.

I said that he didn't gave a link to the website; and he didn't. He gave an email address.

This is sounding increasingly poor. Such an email would be sent by a child. Big companies don't bother to defend themselves. Little companies trying to be big pull punches with no weight; and in turn I doubt a well managed game developing company would give no more than a momentary admission to somebody clawing at their heels. I am seriously unimpressed by that kind of conduct.

The Operation Directors' email has most likely jeopardised any support you'll get from Interlopers. A childish and stupid email, and basically a 'fuck you if you slag us off'.

Smooth.

esJ showed me the emails he received from this Ben Palmer person, but before I could add my reply Major here summed it up nicely! Lovely jubbly.

I honestly see little reason to be emailing esJ these types of emails, they will get you nowhere and have certainly made you out to look the lesser person here.

I know, talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face, right? The post by Major pretty much summed up the response I was hoping for here, and expecting. Smooth indeed.

I honestly expected more maturity from people working on something like that... This makes me disapointed.

It sounds like they are desperate.
