Half Life 2: Deep Down

Postby Aazell on Tue May 28, 2013 6:41 am

Hey all

I released my mod over at Mod DB: http://www.moddb.com/mods/half-life-2-deep-down

Reception so far seems pretty good.

I had a number of people contact me saying how they would have changed things (as is always the way) and this got me thinking. I already included the VMF's with the mod package and I'd like to see what others can do with the mod as it is.

So want to grant everyone the right to make alterations and re-release as some kind of redux with they're own twist.

What do you guys think about this idea?

Thanks

Jim

I was just looking at this one yesterday. Did you see the walkthrough Daz did? It was quite informative. Think I'll film a playthrough when I get home too, although mine are... in a different vein. It looks like a nice mod.

As for giving people the go ahead to make alterations, It sounds like a good idea but doesn't seem like many people would be willing to mod a mod, especially if it's not a raging powerhouse success (for instance there are mods of BMS but that is hardly even a mod anymore). Sure give everyone the green light but I wouldn't expect to have multitudes of people fiddling with your mod. Then again, it takes all kinds of people to make the world go around.

Yeah, that was actually from about a year ago when I posted a preview map on modDB. Was good feedback. I like his vids, always insightful.

Looking forward to you tearing my mod apart in your vid :D

I can't play your mod because it is steampiperiffic :/ I don't want to update to steampipe until it's absolutely necessary so maybe later.

I tried the steam pipe version but I couldn't load any maps. Reverted back to presteampipe.

I can't seem to load the maps either (also getting an error saying that it can't load maplist.txt). Any workaround/solution for this?

I think so, I'll see if I can get it working with the presteampipe

It won't work with pre-steampipe, maybe if you edit the gameinfo?

Well I HAD steampipe when this was installed but wanted to map so bad that I reverted everything back.
