Dystopia Map Update: Injection

Postby Blink on Sun Apr 27, 2008 10:22 pm

The guys working on Dystopia have pumped out some new screenshots of their map, Injection:

Injection is the second of two maps that will be along for the ride in the next version and features some of the most dynamic game play elements ever done in a Dystopia map. We first gave you insight into the fast growing development of Injection back in July, although much has changed since.

Maybe they are too 'clean' and sterile ? That's what I think.

i'm not a fan of the lighting in those shots, looks like the brightness should be increased as the source looks bright, but the actual light emitted is close to 0...

I think I also know what you guys are feeling. On the other hand, I believe Dystopia maps are the best non-Valve Source multiplayer maps. They run great, they look consistent. Textures are matched nicely, and in genral it's very neat and clean. rue, I'd have a prop here and there, but it's better than having a magjible of props that lag bad.

I think the problem is that it doesnt look like a dystopia to me... its in the future.. things dont look too good but .. y'know.. its not like so bad it's a .

Their maps always bugged me too.. they can still detail up maps like Valve and make them run well.

unfortunatly we cant have the same level of detail of hl2/valve/most other mods maps, due to the cyberspace aspect of our mod, each map is essentially 2 maps, one for meatspace (the real world) one for cyberspace, this means that we have to compromise on detail sometimes in order to be able to sit within the limits of the engine :(

Interesting point, dys-termi!

What always bothered me about Dystopia's maps (although I actually like the mod quite a lot) layout-wise, is that most of the maps have this "spamming phase" in the end, with an intentional choke-point that is always the target of extensive grenade-spam. Kinda like dustbowl. It works better than it sounds because the mod's designed around this, but I'm not a big fan of this style. I've also skipped some of the latest updates, so what I'm saying might be completely untrue.
