Valve are starting to fall apart a bit in my opinion. The leadership is really, well, shite.

Gonna type out an article in a magazine of mine on that subject for y'all soon.

So does anyone actually know who this guy is? I like how randomdude x gets to have unimpeded correspondence with the devs.

Can't wait to see the resulting documentary of the flight.

It's pretty easy to get contacts in the industry.

You simply just start E-mailing them. I've got friends at four different developers, all I did was mention I'm learning how to map and was interested in getting into the same type of work they are. Never met a single person who ignored me or didn't have time to talk about their passion.

I'm not into that kind of stuff, but I know the guys from mythbusters will talk to basically anyone who E-mails them that has a passion for making replicas. (specifically movie props) Common interests are the catalysts of friendships.
It's quite simple really. I want to be a professional level designer. I want this to be my job.

The OP wasn't really worded well and kind of gave the wrong idea, but anyone who actually read the link would be able to figure out it's a tongue-in-cheek sort of thing. Which is why it's good to read the material before you post about it.

I personally think its hilarious, the boycotters irritate the shit out of me and I like having a bit of fun partially at their expense.

Sorry Ennui, I did try and convey the playfulness of the whole affair and have encouraged people to read the whole email correspondence in the thread.

Well i email valve about stuff all the time with particle editor problems, and i never receive replies. God.. they don't give a rip about the few particle editors there are in this modding world like me. :/ Although they will reply about mapping stuff. And interesting story. Great way to make money.

Ah yeah mate, I wasn't trying to point any blame at you, and the OP is fine, I was just commenting on how the lightheartedness of the whole affair is not readily apparent when reading the newspost unless you already know it is.

Ennui it stops being a joke when you're asking people to send you money for their personal gain.

He assures readers that if Newell and Johnson do in fact back out from visiting, he'll refund as much as possible and donate anything left to Penny Arcade's Child's Play charity.

As a company gets more employees, the more faceless they become. Something along the lines of:
With 50 employees, everyone basically knows each other.
Getting to 100, details get fuzzy.
150 and divisions form.
200, and the facelessness has already started.

Don't quote me on that, it's just a general guess.

Brotip: There's no point in replying and wasting time on replying to emails which you can find answers to by using the VDC. They put that up for a reason hope this helps.
